Canadian couples want money for wedding gifts to buy a home: survey

A new survey finds that 79 per cent of Canadians would consider asking for cash contributions toward a home down payment instead of traditional wedding gifts. The finding reflects how housing affordability pressures are reshaping even longstanding social customs. For many Canadian couples, a registry of dishes or appliances has given way to a far more practical financial ask.
