What We Collect

When you subscribe to 7AM, we collect:

  • Your email address — required to send you the newsletter.
  • Your name — optional. If you provide it, we use it to personalize your welcome email.

When you visit 7am.ca, we use Umami for analytics. Umami is privacy-first and does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sessions, and does not collect any personally identifiable information. We see aggregate data like page views and referral sources — not you specifically.

What We Don't Collect

We don't collect your phone number, home address, payment information (the newsletter is free), or anything else we don't need. We're not building a profile on you. We're building a newsletter.

How We Use Your Information

  • To send you 7AM every morning at 7AM Eastern.
  • To send occasional updates about the publication (new features, format changes, etc.).
  • To understand in aggregate how the newsletter is performing (open rates, general geography — provided by beehiiv).

We do not use your email address to send you advertising, sell you products, or share it with third parties for their marketing purposes. Full stop.

Who We Share Your Information With

beehiiv — Our newsletter platform. Your email address and name are stored on beehiiv's infrastructure in order to send you the newsletter. beehiiv's privacy policy applies to their handling of your data. We've reviewed it and we're comfortable with it.

Beyond beehiiv, we don't share your personal information with anyone. Not brokers. Not advertisers. Not other publications. No one.

CASL Compliance

We follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You subscribed explicitly — we don't add people to lists without their knowledge. Every edition includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it removes you immediately and permanently. We don't do "cool-down periods" or "we'll remove you in 10 business days." One click. Done.

How Long We Keep Your Data

Until you unsubscribe. When you unsubscribe, your data is removed from our active list. You can also request complete deletion of your data by emailing us at hello@7am.ca.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct any inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information from our systems.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (i.e., unsubscribe).

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@7am.ca. We'll respond within 10 business days.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Our newsletter platform (beehiiv) uses industry-standard security practices. That said, no system is perfectly secure — we can't guarantee absolute security, but we treat your data with care.

Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll announce it in the newsletter. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
